Uniting Against Corruption: Insights From The International Anti Corruption Conference
“Timby joins global leaders, NGOs, and experts to spotlight the role of technology in tackling sexual corruption.”
Back to BlogsIn June 2024, the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) convened in Lithuania, gathering a diverse assembly of global leaders dedicated to combating corruption in all its forms. Among the distinguished participants, Timby was honored to be represented as a panelist, contributing to critical discussions around sexual corruption.
The IACC has long been a pivotal platform for addressing the pervasive challenges of corruption, providing a space for collaboration among stakeholders. This year’s event was no exception, drawing a wide range of participants including NGO leaders, law enforcement officials, policymakers, and various other subject matter experts. This broad representation underscores the complex and multifaceted nature of corruption and the necessity for varied, innovative approaches to tackle it effectively.
During the conference, Timby shared insights from its collaboration with a local NGO in Nigeria designed to combat sexual corruption within universities. This project empowers students to safely and anonymously report incidents of sexual corruption through Timby’s secure platform. Beyond reporting, this initiative connects victims with essential mental health and legal support services, creating a comprehensive system that addresses both immediate needs and systemic issues By fostering accountability and transparency, the project is paving the way for a cultural shift within academic institutions, transforming them into safer and more equitable spaces. A recurring theme throughout the conference was the transformative role of technology in the fight against corruption. Technological solutions like Timby are not merely adjuncts but have become central to strategies aimed at addressing corruption along its many dimensions. Such technologies offer a way to enhance transparency, improve confidence in reporting mechanisms, and deliver justice for victims. By integrating digital tools into anti-corruption efforts, we hope to build a future where individuals can speak out safely and where systems can emerge that prioritize fairness and integrity.
